The PCR Antibody test will confirm whether the person has previously been infected with the virus.
The antibody test screens blood for the presence of COVID-19 antibodies.
During a COVID infection (or any virus), the human body produces antibodies (called blood proteins) to fight off the virus.
The body continues making antibodies in case it encounters the virus again. So a person who has recovered from COVID-19 would have COVID-19 antibodies in their blood. A sample of blood can be tested for the presence of these antibodies. A person with antibodies to a virus means they may recover more quickly from an infection, or not get ill at all.
